The Panthère de Cartier arrived in 1983 during an era of unabashed glamour — and became an instant icon. Envisioned as a watch that doubled as jewellery, it blurred the line between the two in a way few objects have managed before or since. The panther had long been central to the Maison's identity — Jeanne Toussaint, Cartier's legendary creative director and nicknamedLa Panthère, had woven the cat motif throughout the Maison's jewellery for decades. The watch merely gave it a new form.
The Ruban is an elegant extension of that legacy — nine rows of softly rounded links in place of five, flowing across the wrist like a ribbon of liquid metal. It wears less like a watch than a jewellery cuff that happens to tell the time.
Condition
The watch presents in excellent vintage condition. The bracelet carries light wear consistent with its age, while the dial and crystal remain in exceptional condition. The watch comes with its original Cartier box.
