History
The Santos is Cartier's oldest and most storied watch — born in 1904 from the friendship between Louis Cartier and Alberto Santos-Dumont, the Brazilian aviator who needed to read the time without taking his hands off the controls of his aircraft. The square case, exposed screws, and Roman numerals that defined the original remain as recognisable today as they were then.
The Santos Vendôme takes that DNA and marries it to the Vendôme lug system — the distinctive horizontal T-bar attachment that suspends the case between the bracelet, allowing it to float almost uninterrupted on the wrist.The name is a quiet tribute to the Place Vendôme, the gilded Parisian square that has been Cartier's spiritual address since the Maison first opened its doors there in 1898.
