Les Must de Cartier was born in 1973 from the minds of two men: Robert Hocq, who coined the phrase itself, and a young Alain Dominique Perrin, whom Hocq appointed to lead the new venture. The concept was simple yet unconvention: make Cartier products more accessible.
It worked beyond anyone's expectations. From 3,000 watches a year at the start of the decade, Cartier was selling over 160,000 by the end of the 1970s. The Maison today produces more than 500,000 pieces per year. Les Must de Cartier didn't just save Cartier — they reimagined the luxury goods industry.
This example features a striking Art Deco dial and measures 23×30mm — the classic proportion of the Cartier Tank.
Condition
Serviced in January 2026. The case back carries some honest patina commensurate with its age and some peeling on the buckle while the dial and crystal remain in impeccable condition.
